You all know about my obsession with Kanye. It's well documented. If you're my friend you probably also know how much I love RuPaul. She's my hero. I highly recommend the ENTIRE PLANET read Ru's book, RuPaul's Guide to Workin' It. It's entertaining and like a self help book for awesome people. (That's me!) I couldn't put it down and I thought I loved Ru before, now she's my hero. I mean it.
Ru is just himself. (Oh and he doesn't care if we call her a she or a he.)
"You can call me he. You can call me she. You can call me Regis and Kathie Lee; I don't care! Just as long as you call me."-RuPaul
And now some RuPaul quotes:
I've dedicated my career to fighting the mundane. My hope is that my career will be a shining example to children everywhere that life is more meaningful when you are not afraid to see all colors of the rainbow.
"If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?"
"Look at me--a big old black man under all of this makeup, and if I can look beautiful, so can you."
Soul Train '79: Disco threatened people who were afraid of their own connection to universal joy.
People feel more comfortable in their pain, like a foster child who longs to be back home with their abusive parent
Remembering to disengage my ego is a full-time job
My goal is to always come from a place of love, but sometimes I just have to break it down for a motherf%&ker
I'm really an introvert masquerading as an extrovert
You can read the first chapter of her book HERE. Seriously, read it.
