I wish I had more pictures of all of my different...phases growing up. I don't mean when I convinced my parents that cutting my hair off was a good idea and I pranced around looking like a little boy. A cool girl at school cut her hair short and I JUST KNEW if I cut my hair short I would be super cool too. Don't worry, I have photos of that.
As you can see, I've always been the whitest person you'll ever meet. My Grandma Margaret just loved it! She thought it was great. I went to her house once to model my new swimming suit for her. I came out of the bedroom and she told me "Oh doesn't that black look so beautiful with your pale skin." No, not really, but to her it did. That's probably why I strangely stopped by her house for a runway show.
I have photos of my perm that didn't take. I have all kinds of photos from when I was a kid.

There is this whole span of time in my life that I don't have that many photos. Basically high school and my college years. School pictures don't count. I have a couple, not many. I hated having my picture taken. I would tell people I was afraid photos would steal my soul just like the Native Americans believed. I hated having my picture taken because that meant I'd eventually I would have to look at that picture and I knew I would look idiotic.

I've gotten over that by the way. I've finally realized that other people see what I look like more than I see what I look like and they are used to seeing me talk or smile crooked. The best part is they don't really care that I look bad in a picture. They aren't actually paying that much attention to me.

I really missed out on some interesting pictures though. I had my hair all sorts of different colors. Purple, blue, yellow, bright red, black, blonde. I had my lip pierced a couple of times. For a while on my right side and then I got the middle. I also had my nose pierced and my eye brow and I don't know. Doing things that would have been interesting pictures. Here's one I have of me and my lip ring.
I still remember what was happening when this picture was taken. There was a homeless woman about my age pointing to a statue of Andrew Jackson and telling me that he was her father. I eventually started laughing and she started yelling at me asking if I was taking her picture. (I may have been...)

Do you have lots of teen/college photos? Are they great or embarrassing?

I don't have a lot either. I spent most of my teen years doing things I wasn't supposed to, and photos would have been proof of that. There are some pictures during family get togethers where I was trying to look surly and full of teen angst. I thought not smiling was super-cool. Now I realize it ws super-dumb and that I spoiled a lot of family snapshots. But that's a teen for you. I'm working on a second teen at my house now. And they both ruin pictures, too. Damn kids.

I, too, had a beautiful perm around kindergarten. My mom thought it would be a good idea to perm my bangs as well. Needless to say, I looked like a poodle for a couple of years...

You look quite BADASS in your photos, for sure :) And in your recent photos? You got that million dollar Hollywood smile!

Yeah, I was a pretty big asshole as a teen. That's what being a teen is all about though. I don't get people that feel that college and high school were the best years of their life. Being an adult is kinda fantastic. If I could go back and do it all over again...I wouldn't.

Bangs were nothing but trouble back in the day. Gail's got permed. My got cut so short they stood on end.
