Alyssa's Solo Slumber Party
Last night my niece Alyssa (she's 3, almost 4) got to stay over on her own for the first time. It was awesome!
I went and got her right when I got off of work. Will told me she was pretty excited about it. Me too. When we got back to Des Moines I asked her if she wanted to go to a party. She said, "Yes. Will they have cake?" "Well I don't know." So we stopped by a party. There was cake. I brought a little plate of cake out to the car with us cuz she didn't want to eat it there. So we weren't at the party for too long before she was ready to go. She's a shy little gal around strangers. Usually she'll have her sister Tori there to talk for her. She will introduce her to people a lot, "this is my little sister, Alyssa." You don't need to talk a lot if you have Tori around.
After the party we went to the Petco. I got her a betta fish. He's red. She named him, Rocky Batman Baker. Name just rolls right off the tongue. We brought little Rocky Home and I made spaghetti. Alyssa was concerned about my dinner choice because, "I don't want to get so messy." I told her she could take a bath after we eat. She was fine with that solution.
Alyssa was saying the funniest things last night! I think she liked having all the attention cuz she was telling story after story. They were hilarious! I wrote some of it down.
"See that thing that looks like a fish? That's my fish and its sleeping."
"Some rafters (raptors) are nice and a bunch are mean. Some rafters walk like that and a bunch run."
(Upon seeing dinosaur bones in a museum on TV) "Dinosaurs got in there and then they died and then dinosaur bones got up there."
"I was a baby and then I wasn't. I was getting strong when I was a baby."
"My Dad drinks pop with caffeine."
"The Penguin on Batman that's not a penguin, but a person that's named the Penguin. He never brushes his teeth so they are black and gross and nobody wants to talk to him."
"My Dad's mom is named Grandma Kelly too and my Dad's Dad is named Grandpa Bill."
We woke up today, ate some Franken Berry and then headed to the library. There was someone from the Des Moines Playhouse there reading to kids, dressed and behaving like a pirate. I asked Alyssa if she wanted to listen to him read, "Is he a mean pirate?" I told her he wasn't. His teeth were painted up gross, just like the Penguin. We made pirate hats and hand puppet parrots. And me and Liss won tickets to a play about pirates at the Playhouse. We will save those for another day.
We made a couple more stops on the way home. One for Mother's Day cards and another for cookies.
