Awesome City, USA a.k.a. Dallas Center

This Saturday I will be taking part in Dallas Center's Art in the Park. I'm getting pretty nervous about the whole thing. Sitting there watching people look at my stuff...I'm a wee bit freaked out about it. I'll be sitting with Becky though and I feel she will be a calming factor. I can just joke around about how I feel like puking and that will keep me from barfing. I hope.

Anyways, this all leads to a new feature in which I will describe all the weird and awesome things about Dallas Center. (Dallas Center will be referred to as DC from here on out)

Here's your first example:
There is a hair salon attached to the muffler shop. It's called "Hair Repair" and they welcome walk-ins if you're interested. I feel like only in DC does something like this happen and no one questions it. Discount coupons got sent out with a water bill. Which is total marketing genius.

So head on up and get an oil change and get your hair highlighted. I double-dog dare you.

Kinda useful, actually, getting a perm while they fix your car. Saves time, right? Multitasking in the country....

Do people still get perms? I feel like this would be an excellent place to do such a thing. And maybe get their hair frosted.

I also very much enjoy their signage. It's kicky.

Don't laugh... I've actually gotten a perm in the last year, but I come right home and brush it out so I'm not all Shirley Temple. I just want it WAVY... I don't know why they can't get that through their heads.

Don't worry about berfing, as I may feel like berfing as well. Perhaps I'll bring a 5 gal bucket. OH! Brian said he'd bring us some ice cream somewhere between 1 and 5. That will go well with our multiple wine samples. :)

I think we've all gotten a perm. Most of the time it was followed by deep regret.

I got a perm when I was younger. I was pretty pumped about it actually. Waited the allotted time and didn't wash my hair. It didn't take. My hair was destined for straightness.

Oh what a good guy! Bringing us ice cream. I may just have to buy a bottle. Nothing calms the nerves like an entire bottle of wine.

I'm sorry your perm didn't work out. I think the only reason mine still takes is that I've threatened to chop off all my hair (again) if it doesn't cooperate. Now it works with me so I don't donate it to Locks of Love.

PS. I have baby pug photos. I swiped them from my Mom's living room.
